Political Campaign Yard Signs

Need signs for your campaign? We've compiled this list of campaign sign vendors for your convenience, along with a few tips to help you order the right signs the first time.

Before You Order

Size and material. The standard political yard sign is 18" × 24", printed on 4mm corrugated plastic ("coroplast") and mounted on an H-frame wire stake. It's the size drivers expect to see, and usually the most economical to print in bulk.

Keep the design simple. A yard sign needs to be readable from a moving car: your name, the office you're seeking, and not much else. High-contrast one- and two-color designs are easier to read at a distance and often cheaper to print than full color.

Know the local rules. Many cities and counties regulate when campaign signs can go up, how large they can be, and where they can be placed. Signs in the public right-of-way are usually prohibited. Check your local sign ordinance (and HOA rules) before you distribute. "Paid for by" disclaimer requirements vary by state, so confirm the required wording with your state's election office before you print.

Order early, and order enough. Printing and shipping can take a couple of weeks during busy election seasons, and you'll lose some signs to weather and turnover along the way. If union support matters in your race, ask for a union printer so your signs carry the union label.
